The opposition Socialist Party (MSZP) on Thursday called on the government to cut household gas prices, arguing that global energy prices have fallen significantly since 2014. The Budapest assembly approved a decision to spend over one billion forints (EUR 3.3) on purchasing 7,000 LED lights for public lighting. Under the decision, passed with 24 votes in favour and with 5 abstentions, a public procurement bid will be announced to select a supplier. The radical nationalist Jobbik party, however, said that approved amount was one-and-a-half times the market price.

In 2017 Q2, developments in corporate and household lending showed a further improvement. The annual growth rate of total corporate loans accelerated to 7 per cent. Lending to SMEs, including the self-employed sector, expanded by 13 per cent. As a result, SME lending was able to grow on market basis following the termination of the Funding for Growth Scheme.
