Highest Price Paid on Art Market in Hungary This Year for Munkácsy Painting
Rendezvous at the Window, a painting by19th-century artist Mihály Munkácsy was sold for Ft 155 million at the autumn auction of the Judit Virág Gallery.

This is the highest price paid on the market for this year. The starting price was Ft 40 million.

Munkácsy painted the picture during his stay in France and it found its way to a Hungarian art collection in 1914.

In other auction highlights, painter János Vaszary’s Arrangement of Flowers from 1909 sold for Ft 90 million, up from the starting price of Ft 65 million, and Béla Kondor’s work titled The Nun and the Priest from 1961 was offered for Ft 36 million and was purchased for Ft 50 million.
