On Sunday 31 January, Müpa and the Budapest Festival Orchestra will be presenting their ninth music Marathon; the concerts start early and will fill Müpa’s concert halls non-stop into the evening. The National Philharmonic continues its series of concerts of dramatic works by Richard Strauss which have never or only rarely been performed in Hungary. The concert begins with a Strauss curiosity in the shape of music written in 1940 to honour the 2,600th anniversary of the Japanese Empire, a work that features Japanese temple gongs.
