Xpat Opinion: Heavenly Hungarian Wine, Part 5: Tokaj & Gizella Pince
- 16 Jul 2013 9:00 AM
- food & drink
I can easily name a few wine regions that without doubt deserves much more attention. Tokaj is one of those. Yes, it is a well-known region, world famous even, but still very much in need of an update amongst a majority of the wine consumers. You see, not only are there more than sweet stuff emerging from Tokaj, but the amber shimmering elixir now also comes in a style that too many are yet to ...
Xpat Opinion: Heavenly Hungarian Wine, Szent Tamas By Istvan Szepsy
- 15 Apr 2013 9:00 AM
- food & drink
I can’t claim it came as a surprise to me; the quality of Tokaj Furmint. After all; the reason I finally visited the region and now had István Szepsy standing next to me, explaining about the complexity of the Szent Tamás site, was the amazing Tokaj wines I’ve had before, both dry and sweet. Curiosity and of course an urge to try to understand one of the most unique terroirs in the wine world, ...

- 19 Mar 2013 8:00 AM

Burgundy may still be the region functioning as the prototype, but I don’t think anyone will ...

Xpat Opinion: Heavenly Hungarian Wine, Kadarka
- 7 Feb 2013 10:35 AM
- food & drink
New discoveries. That’s what it is all about here...I’m a fortunate man, my Hungarian buddy Zoli keeps me updated what’s going on, on the Hungarian wine scene. When there’s something he believes I haven’t tasted, nor heard of, he makes sure I’ll get the chance. Recently he provided me with something he was pretty sure I didn’t know about. Kadarka. The best ever on the grape as he said.
