A network of cameras installed on major roads throughout Hungary recorded nearly 100 traffic violations in its first two hours after it became operational at 8 am this Tuesday. Traffic fines are Ft 50,000 for driving through a red light, Ft 30,000 for illegal overtaking or U-turns, and Ft 300,000 for exceeding the speed limit by Ft 75km per hour.

Prices for public catering services are expected to drop as a result of the planned nationalisation of such services, daily Magyar Idők reported. Talks have already started about transferring control over all public catering services from local councils to the state. Government office chief János Lázár said prices could drop as a result of the move.
