Almost 50% of the guests came from abroad and the festival passes were sold out months before the start of the event. The budget deficit reached Ft 813.7 billion in the first half, equivalent to 82.6% of the year-end target, the Economy Ministry announced. The budget deficit was Ft 132 billion last month, the lowest June figure since 2002.

The Sziget Festival has a good chance of bringing past years’ downward trends to a halt and setting new attendance records, the head of the company running the event told Thursday’s business daily Világgazdaság. Organisers have already sold more weekly passes for this year’s festival than during the whole of last year’s event, Karoly Gerendai said.
