Authorities have detained a young Hungarian in connection with the late September bomb attack in central Budapest, municipal prosecutor Imre Keresztes said. On September 24, two police officers were seriously injured when a homemade shrapnel bomb exploded on Grand Boulevard. Keresztes said that the suspect, who has no criminal record, appealed against his detention.

Below is security camera footage of the blast in downtown Budapest on Saturday night, including shots of the man suspected of planting and detonating the bomb. The 18-minute video posted on police.hu shows the perpetrator walking past the doorway at Teréz körút 2-4 several times before depositing the homemade bomb and a rucksack filled with nails and screws before the arrival of patrolling police.

Police are looking for a suspect in his early twenties who targeted two police officers in a bomb attack in central Budapest late on Saturday, the national chief of police said. Two police officers, a 23-year-old woman, and a 26-year-old man, were injured when walking past a ground-level shop near the Grand Boulevard, doing their regular rounds, at 10.36 pm, Károly Papp told a press conference.
