The radical nationalist Jobbik party has called on all deputies to publish asset declarations for their family members. Jobbik MP György Szilágyi said on Tuesday that like last year, representatives of his party have again published such lists of family assets. He said that the information was available on Jobbik’s website in a comparable format.

The most important problems Hungary must address are the need to fix its education and health care systems and the state of its cultural and art life, Ferenc Gyurcsány, leader of the opposition Democratic Coalition (DK), said. In their place, local governments can offer so-called “settlement assistance”, but who receives how much is now entirely left up to the local governments.

The Capital Court of Appeals on Thursday extended the three-year prison term meted out to Ernõ Kiss, former head of the National Police crime division by a first instance court to four and a half years for influence-peddling. Kiss was found guilty of accepting cash in 2011 from István Kocsis, the head of state energy company MVM at the time, to influence criminal proceedings against Kocsis.

The Budapest Capital Regional Court sentenced the former minister to a suspended prison term of two years for misappropriation of funds in allocating and selling a ministryowned apartment to Fapál in 2005- 2006.
