Minority Report: Educating Roma Intellectuals in Hungary

Roma can only become middle-class if backed by an intellectual class, Attila Sztojka, the state secretary for relations with the Roma minority, said at a ceremonial event on Saturday. "While other countries are still looking for excuses, Hungary has set an example for Europe, since here we are raising a new group of Roma intellectuals" true to its roots, he said.

On 4th November, the internationally famous Dutch designer, Marcel Wanders personally handed over the Award he founded to the graduates of MOME’s (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest) Design Institute. On the basis of his master diploma project, a textile and fashion design graduate, Richard Marton received the main award that also comes with a 1,500 Euro prize.
Minister Okays Ceding Budapest Corvinus Departments To Gödöllő University

The human resources minister has passed a final decision to move three departments of Budapest’s Corvinus University to Szent István University in Gödöllő, a town near Budapest. Deans of the departments of food science, horticultural science and landscape architecture said after talks with Zoltán Balog, the minister, that they had had no opportunity to negotiate.

The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble is touring the United States; there will be a concert to help elderly musicians who are stewards of traditions; a new full-size program featuring dances from Sub-Carpathia will be compiled; and decision has been made to expand the Museum of Applied Folk Art.
