This iconic landmark of Budapest panorama was unveiled seventy years ago, on April 4 1947. The memory of celebrating April 4 as an official holiday until 1990 is kept in Hungarian collective consciousness mainly through Communist songs composed for the event, like ÁPRILIS 4-RŐL SZÓLJON AZ ÉNEK (‘the song should sound about April 4’).
Marcel Wanders Design Award 2016 Goes To A Fashion Design Collection From MOME

On 4th November, the internationally famous Dutch designer, Marcel Wanders personally handed over the Award he founded to the graduates of MOME’s (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest) Design Institute. On the basis of his master diploma project, a textile and fashion design graduate, Richard Marton received the main award that also comes with a 1,500 Euro prize.

Traditional tools of paprika processing are on view throughout the season at Ópusztaszer Heritage Village, however, on Paprika Day the mobile paprika grinder and the foot-pedaled mortar, the "külü" are actually re-animated. Guests also have an opportunity to make garlands of red peppers themselves.

Hungary’s longest, 22-kilometre narrow-gauge forest railway has reopened in the hills north of the capital Budapest after almost a quarter-centurey of being closed down.

Fifth District Mayor Antal Rogán on Thursday unveiled a life-size bronze statue of American actor Peter Falk on Falk Miksa utca. Falk, who had Hungarian ancestry, is very popular in Hungary for his role as TV detective Lt. Columbo. However, there is no evidence that he was related to Miksa Falk, who was a 19th-century journalist.
