Hungarian Sailing Association To Organise 170 Competitions This Year

The Hungarian Sailing Association (MVSZ) is to organise close to 170 competitions this year, with the traditional season-opening race on Lake Balaton to be held on 16 May at the town of Balatonfüred on the northern shore, the Association said at its first press conference of the year. The largest Hungarian race, named Kékszalag or “Blue Ribbon”, will be launched for the 47th time on 2 July.

Austrian state railway company ÖBB has delivered 10 used carriages to its Hungarian counterpart MÁV, which have undergone an overhaul and are ready for use. MÁV Start CEO György Záránd said Hungary agreed to buy 55 Lange-Schlieren trains with a maximum speed of 140kph from ÖBB after the Austrian company bought trains capable of 160-180kph.

Hungary’s participation in the international coalition fighting against the Islamic State terrorist organisation would cost 20 billion forints (EUR 66m) during the first year of the mission, the foreign minister said. Hungary has received the formal request for contribution from the United States, Péter Szijjártó told parliament’s foreign affairs committee.

BKK Centre for Budapest Transport: BKK modifies some of its timetables in March 2015 in order to provide more convenient transfers and better coordinated service. After the changes there will be more frequent bus services to the Buda Castle at weekends, more even service on parallel surface lines and coordinated timetables with the trains to Liszt Ferenc International Airport.

The Nyugati railway station in central Budapest is to close in the summer for a two-week period of repairs and track renovation. According to information obtained by the press, the station will be entirely closed to rail traffic between 22 June and 6 July for track repairs and inspecting wiring and signalling equipment.
