The leftist opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) will launch its campaign for the 2018 general election with an assembly in Budapest on September 2, the party’s spokesman said on Sunday. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said shaming Hungary was “foolish”, noting that the country currently has the highest or second highest growth rate in the European Union. Speaking at a general assembly meeting of Mercedes parent company Daimler in Budapest, Orbán said Hungary had the fastest-declining unemployment rate in the EU and that it complied with all European financial regulations.
