Team GB might not have won any medals on 8 August (although we were very happy to see Hungary doing so well), but for me it was a day of firsts: Day 1 of the Festival was also the first anniversary of my arrival in Budapest and I made my first visit to the Sziget Festival and my first speech in Hungarian.

U.S. Ambassador to Hungary Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis presented the Active Citizenship Award to the NGO Ability Park at the Sziget Festival on August 9, 2012. SHE- Tales of Ancient Goddesses Kathak Dance Performance of Sharmistha Mukherjee and her dance group. In Rig Veda, one of the earliest literatures in history roughly dating between 1700 to 1100 BC, there are references of several goddesses. Though none of them are central to the text, they are treated with curiosity and love for the powerful natural phenomena and abstract forces they represent.
