International rating agencies are expected to downgrade Hungary’s credit rating in November following centre-right government’s new budget plans, experts in Budapest and London told Budapest Report. Their cited reasons being that Hungary will be weakened financially as it does not want to depend on an IMF bail-out to strengthen its reserves.

According to an article in Le Mond of 26.10.10, the German team that beat Hungary in the football World Cup final of 1954 received "injections of a doping product during the tournament". Apparently the Team German final victory was a major surprise as Hungary had trounced them 8-3 in the group stage of the tournament. Here's a retro video of the action.

"The British Embassy together with the Raoul Wallenberg Association organised a ceremony on 15 October at which a plaque was unveiled commemorating the courageous efforts of Raoul Wallenberg. The Swedish diplomat gave shelter for Hungarian Jews in the building of the British Embassy (Hazai Bank at that time).
