US Ambassador Colleen Bell recently made numerous positive public remarks about Hungary, and also spoke of her country’s concerns - about corruption, a decline of freedom of the press, and xenophobic characterisations of refugees – during her speech on Wednesday 28 October at the Corvinus University in Budapest. <br><br>She said Hungary was not a place where journalists were jailed or tortured, but spoke about concerns of concentrated media ownership and large subsidies to state media. The renovated bell and lookout tower of Budapest’s famous Matthias Church in the castle district is now open to the public, the church’s priest said. The tower was only open for visits to the upper classes ever since it was built by Frigyes Schulek in 1894, László Süllei said.
