• Hungary Marks Fifth Anniversary Of Toxic Sludge Disaster

    “We must name those responsible, continue building, and return, every year, to remember,” state secretary for regional administration, Zoltán Kovács, said in Kolontár, in western Hungary, on Sunday, marking the fifth anniversary of the country’s worst industrial disaster, a toxic sludge spill that killed ten and injured hundreds. The ruling Fidesz MP who represents the district said the government had acted with great speed after the disaster and spent 30 billion forints (EUR 95m) on the clean-up and reconstruction.

    Berlin-based electronic musician Apparat - aka Sascha Ring - presents a selection of his soaring scores for film and theatre. In 2012, Apparat (Sascha Ring) began a new scope of activity with the theater. He composed the music for a production of Tolstoy’s ‘War and Peace’ by Sebastian Hartmann, one of the most influential theater directors in the German speaking area. After the performance at the renowned Ruhrfestspiele and the Leipzig Theater, the work received the distinction of being invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen, which is the German-language theater equivalent of an Oscar for the movies. Apparat’s music was released as an album on Mute.
