Fewer Apply For Post-Secondary Studies In Hungary
The number of applications for places in colleges and universities in September is the lowest in 17 years this year, at slightly over 95,000, it was announced on Friday. Last year 110,000 and two years ago 140,000 students submitted applications.

Some 51,000 students were granted full state scholarships last year, which is to rise to at least 55,000 this year.

Undersecretary for higher education Zoltán Maruzsa attributed the decline to demographic and structural changes, growing expectations from applicants and the expansion of advanced level high school final examinations.
