Last Soviet Metro Carriage Withdrawn In Budapest
The last Soviet Russian era metro carriage was withdrawn from the “red” metro line in Budapest on Tuesday, as the vehicles have been replaced with new Alstom Metropolis trains.

The old carriages served for 43 years, covering nearly two billion kilometres.

They remain in service on the north-south “blue” line.

Budapest has bought 110 Metropolis cars for the red line, and 60 for the fourth metro line now under construction.

The first new train entered into service last September. The replacement of metro carriages costs about Ft 65 billion.
