Water A National Security Issue, Says Hungary’s President
Water today is not only an economic, social, health and environmental issue, but a national security issue as well, the president said at a ceremony in eastern Hungary, inaugurating a 200 million forint (EUR 650,000) production, research and development hall of the Hungarian-owned S-Metalltech 98 Ltd.

The company makes components for filtering drinking water in Jászfényszaru. Áder said that ensuring every Hungarian resident had access to healthy drinking water free of any arsenic content was an agreed goal to fulfil by June 30, 2015.

Several decades ago, about 1.5 million people in Hungary lacked access to proper quality, arsenic-free drinking water and there are settlements in the country that still face the same problem today, Áder said.
