Hungarian MPs Order Health Tests For Refugees
Parliament on Tuesday authorised the national chief medical officer to order compulsory health screening tests of refugees during a state of emergency declared in response to massive immigration. Persons applying for asylum at a transit station must undergo the health screening on the spot. In another development Parliament began debate of a bill on establishing a central database where the faces of all citizens would be stored.

The government argues that the bill will help to identify criminals quickly and to clearly establish personal identity.

A government report stated that international document forgery, crime fighting, and the security of protected persons justify the creation of the database.

All Hungarian government bodies would have access to it.

It would be established at a cost of Ft 4 billion from January 2016 and would be handled by a new 50-strong body.

The personal photographs would be taken at government offices in such a way that only a personal identification number would be linked to the pictures.
