Both British acts were seen as large draws for the annual festival, Index observes, and both were due to perform on August 12.
Sziget organisers wrote: “We did our best to negotiate with them until the very end,” but both acts withdrew despite having committed to the festival months ago. The performers will repay their advance fees, but the festival cannot count on any compensation, said press chief Viktória Vetõ.
"We are sad and at the same time very much disappointed because both Clean Bandit and Rita Ora has cancelled their gig at Sziget. We are disappointed, but already in negotiations to find two wonderful artists to fill in the slots before Macklemore & Ryan Lewis! We are 100% positive that we are going to have a crazy-super Saturday at Sziget!" wrote 'Sziget Team'.
This year’s festival dates are August 9-15.
