Sunday Farmers’ Market @ Szimpla Ruin Bar

Szimpla, you’ve probably read about it, it’s the most famous ruin bar in Budapest, guaranteed to be filled with a fun mix of locals and tourists every night of the week. But, come Sunday, drinking isn’t the main focus as a farmers’ market sets up shop for the day.

With 30-40 sellers on-site, expect a fine array of cheese, veg, meats, mushrooms, spices and honey – all sourced locally chemical free. What’s more, there’s musical entertainment laid on each week if you want to stick around and enjoy your purchases.

Gastro Market @ Élesztő

Held at another ruin pub – one that’s made a name for itself as one of the best craft beerjoints in town – this gastro-market boats the usual delicious foods, but with a focus on producers that “maintain harmony with nature”.

Plus, to give the event more of a participatory feel, every week, chefs from the local gastronomy scene are invited to host an outdoor cook-along, and a community table is held to give people the chance to gather for breakfast and lunch, get to know each other and share stories and purchases.

Antique Flea Market @ Klauzál Square

If hunting for rare gems is your thing, be sure to check out the antique market held at the newly renovated Klauzál Square. It’s antiquing with a twist and promises you the chance to “rediscover antiquities from a brand new point of view: renovated, redesigned, and modified”.

Trying to bring a little of the local area’s bohemian artistic flair to all things old, the market is a great place to spend the afternoon, even if you don’t intend to buy anything – and cultural programs are held there so you can learn a little while you browse.

Sunday Flower And Vegan Market @ Anker’t Ruin Bar

Not far from the Opera House, Anker’t is a ruin bar that has some of the coolest party nights in Budapest, but when the partying is over, on some of the Sundays Anker’t opens its doors for a different crowd.

For the urban gardeners among you, the Kiskertpiac, which translates as “Small Garden Market” comes with a range of flowers and gardening related elements, as well as appealing to the gastro and design enthusiasts with selected stalls on Sundays.

In addition to the flower and gardening market, you’ll also find a vegan market offering food stalls and vendors selling vegan products, workshops and seminars about vegan food and living.
