Hungarian Electricity Distributor App Replaces Meter Readers
Elmű-Émász has launched a mobile app that enables consumers to take a photograph of their meter and report the figures online, the Budapest and North Hungarian electricity distributor announced on Tuesday.

The app replaces the annual visits by meter readers, which are often a hassle for subscribers, the company added.

The new option reduces the probability of mistyped reporting of meter readings.

About 300,000 of Elmű-Émász’s more than two million subscribers make use of electronic invoicing.

In the era of smartphones, clients expect quick and convenient service and the number of subscribers using mobile apps is on the rise, chairwoman Marie-Theres Thiell commented.
