More Deaths, Shorter Funerals In Hungary
There is a longer wait for funerals in larger cities, despite shortened ceremonies, as pressure on funeral companies has increased, Népszava reports.

According to Central Statistics Office data, 3,642 people died during November 9-15, some 50% more than in the same week of the previous five years.

The president of the National Association of Hungarian Crematoria, Zoltán Tóth, said that, since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, urn burial and cremation are increasingly in demand, especially in Borsod, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, Zala and Vas counties.

Most crematoria only accept corpses by appointment, so they can begin cremation immediately.

The remains of those who died of the coronavirus must be refrigerated until cremated, and must not be buried in open coffins.
