Budapest Introducing More Bicycle Lanes
Designation of temporary bicycle lanes on Tétényi út in Budapest’s 11th District has started, as the city has decided to create more bike lanes to help commute and secure safe transportation during the coronavirus outbreak.

A bicycle lane was recently painted on nearby Béla Bartók út, at the behest of the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK).

City council decided to create other bicycle lanes, so that it will soon be possible to ride bicycles more safely, including on Üllői út between Kálvin tér and Könyves Kálmán körút, on Baross utca between Kálvin tér and Orczy tér, and on Rákóczi út.

If these changes prove to be popular, some of the temporary bike lanes may become permanent after the epidemic, the BKK said. It seems that bike traffic in Budapest has substantially increased in the recent period.
