Bem Tér Office Project Planned In Budapest, Replacing Historic Radetzky Barracks
The owner of the historic Radetzky barracks located on Bem tér on the Buda riverside has asked for permission to demolish the 180-year-old building, HVG reports, citing investigative news site Átlátszó.

The owners are reportedly planning to build an office complex on the site.

The project could be classified as an investment of strategic importance, thereby bypassing certain regulatory procedures.

The government office in charge is in the midst of processing the request, but provided no details.

According to the land registry, the current owner of the plot is WS Buda Project, whose owners have close contacts with the government.
