Watch: Budapest Police Catch Drug Dealers In The Act
Police moved in as 81 kilograms of marijuana changed hands in a major drug deal in a 13th District underground garage last Friday.

The drug dealers arrived in two cars for the handover of 44 packages of marijuana in several sports bags.

The National Bureau of Investigations and the Deployment Task Force were waiting for them, and caught the dealers on the scene.

However, the chief organiser of the transaction was watching from a distance and had time to escape.

The Counter-Terrorist Centre was commissioned to catch him.

Considerable police forces gathered in Baranya county last Friday evening to catch the 33-year-old suspect, but he left his getaway car behind and evaded authorities.

Police officers also discovered several other vehicles containing drugs earmarked for sale. These yielded 59 kilograms of marijuana, 220 grams of cocaine and two weapons.

In addition, €70,000 in cash was seized from the two detained men.

The value of the drugs seized is estimated at Ft 250 million, making this one of the biggest drug hauls in Hungary in recent years.
