Hungarian Wins Int’l Maths Competition For University Students
A maths student of Budapest’s Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Attila Gáspár, has won the 28th International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC).

Gáspár was first out of 590 students and received the competition’s grand prize, ELTE said in a statement on Sunday.

The competition traditionally held each year in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, has become among the most prestigious international competitions for university students.

For the second time, the competition was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This year, 590 students from 160 universities in 51 countries on 5 continents took part.

Gaspar received 70 points out of a possible 80 points, well ahead of a Russian in second place, as well as Dutch, Israeli and Polish competitors in joint third.
