St. Stephen Basilica in Budapest May Charge Entry Fees
The St. István Basilica in downtown Budapest will introduce a ticket system instead of a mandatory donation from next spring, tourism website Turizmus Online learned from a forum held at the Tourist Guide Association (MIE).

Tickets will cost Ft 1,200 each or Ft 900 for members of groups of more than 15 people.

Guides will also be charged full price if they are accompanying a group of less than 15 people or individual guests.

The guides are asking for a change in the planned system, “because even with only one guest, they still do their job, and in most places, such as the much higher-priced synagogue, it is natural to let the tour guide in without a ticket”, the MIE said.
