Austrian Town Plans Entrance Fee for Hungarian Cars, Due to Claims They Cause Too Many Accidents
The mayor of the Austrian border town of Schatterndorf plans to introduce a nearly €160 entrance fee to Hungarians, as he maintains that they cause too many road accidents and disturb local residents, RTL Híradó reports.

The one-off fee will be levied from July 3. Of the total, €140 can be used to buy goods at Austrian shops. The entry permits will be valid for two years.

On the Hungarian side of the border, residents of the village of Ágfalva expressed their displeasure in a protest rally on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that entry to Austria must be authorised by Austrian authorities upon payment of the fee. An Austrian panel will assess the applications.
