Hungary to Deploy Troops at Border with Ukraine
Hungary will deploy soldiers and military equipment to the eastern part of the country along its border with Ukraine, local news site Telex writes, citing a report by state news wire MTI.

Minister of Defense Tibor Benkő said that at the morning meeting of the National Security Cabinet, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán gave the Ministry of Defense the task of preventing armed groups from entering Hungary and carrying out maneuvers on the territory of the country.

Benkő said that, if the situation in Ukraine escalates, there will not only be war activity in the eastern part of Ukraine, but it could also extend towards Kiev and Transcarpathia. He added that the people of Hungary need not be afraid, but the Hungarian Defense Forces must be prepared for any eventuality.

The minister stressed that soldiers must also be prepared for the arrival of refugees and to carry out humanitarian missions.
