Here's Why BAR:24 Online Wine Shop is Closing Down in Hungary
BAR:24, an online wine shop launched by Wizz Air CEO József Váradi and other investors, is closing down, the company announced on its website.

Váradi owns the winemaker Julet Viktor in Mád, a village in the Tokaj wine region in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county.

BAR:24 delivered ordered bottles of wine within four hours in Budapest and within 24 hours elsewhere in Hungary.

The closure is a result of a decision made by owners, the company said, adding that the process will be conducted in an orderly man-ner, and all partners will be paid.

According to one market figure, it was a problem that the wines in the BAR:24 product range were neither outstanding nor desirable as they were too commercial, “which never makes a real impression on customers”.

A further problem may have been that they undertook an unviable logistics task in Budapest with the commitment to deliver with-in four hours the source said, adding “It was a suicidal logistics task, because a bottle of wine sold for Ft 1,200 cannot be delivered for Ft 3,500.”
