Record Rubbish Retrieved from Tisza River
A record amount of 1,549 bags of rubbish were collected from Lake Tisza in the annual Lake Tisza PET Cup, the organisers announced on Tuesday.

During the event, competing teams collected waste on the section of the lake between Tiszafüred and Tiszanána-Dinnyéshát.

With more than 200 bags of rubbish, the TiszaiJAK family team won the competition. Erste Green came second and the Decathlon team third.

Participants collected mostly plastic bottles, but also found refrigerators, TVs, car parts, various insulation materials, and hazardous waste, paint, and an oil barrel.

The PET Cup organisers have grown into the largest recycler of river waste, thanks to public service providers, collection and recycling companies, and small-scale innovative solutions, website 24 observes.
