Falling Number of GPs in Hungary
Some 4,473 general practitioners and 1,334 general pediatricians practiced in Hungary at the end of last year, according to the updated database of the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

This is 88 fewer than the 2020 data, 644 fewer than the 2010 figure, and more than 900 fewer than the number at the turn of the millennium.

The better news is that, although the population of Hungary decreased at the same time, the number of registered family doctors and family pediatricians tended to increase in greater proportion.

The former has almost reached two thousand (1,959), and the latter is close to 1,100 (1,076). In 2000, this number was only 1,647 and 951, respectively.
