New Motorway Will Link Hungary & Romania

A motorway set to link Nyiregyhaza and Satu Mare is in the works with assistance from the Romanian government.

Construction and Transport Minister Janos Lazar revealed during a press conference that the project, known as the M49 expressway, is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Duna Aszfalt has already commenced construction on the initial 28km portion of the motorway, connecting the M3 motorway to the Hungarian-Romanian border.

Subsequently, the following 17.5km stretch up to the Hungarian-Romanian border will be built at an estimated cost of Ft 150-160 billion.
