Now Confirmed: Hungary Will Once Again Send an Astronaut into Space
The signing on Tuesday of a contract with American company Axiom Space, which co-operates with NASA, will make it final that Hungary will once again send a person into space, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said in Austin, Texas.

The Hungarian astronaut can start his mission at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.

The government decided to send a researcher to the International Space Station as part of Hungary’s space industry strategy to test various devices and perform experiments there for 30 days.

The Hungarian astronaut will be part of an international team of four.

Four Hungarian candidates are training for the mission, but only one of them will go on the trip. The four candidates will be trained in Austin and Houston in October. The decision on which of them can go may be made shortly before the space flight.
