New Year Brings New Road Tolls in Hungary
From January 1, drivers have to pay tolls on an additional 230km of motorway that were not subject to tolls in 2023.

This includes the entire M0 ring road, its southern and eastern sector, and the Megyeri Bridge; the Békés county highway sections of the M44; the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county highway sections of the M4 and M44; the Miskolc bypass section of the M30, the M31 motorway linking the M3 and M0 motorways; and the M76 highway to Keszthely-Fenékpuszta.

To use toll motorways and highways in Hungary, you need a vignette.

Here in Hungary now there are only electronic vignettes (e-vignette) available.

This means that you no longer have to stick anything onto your car window. Instead, you can simply register your vehicle for an e-vignette online.

The process is very easy and it only takes a few minutes. You just have to know what your number plate is. You pay for the vignette directly online.

E-vignettes can be made valid straight away if you wish. However, you can also choose a later validity date if you want to travel in a few days’ time.

The discounts apply in five counties and are intended to compensate drivers for long-term traffic disruptions caused by major construction projects on the M1 and M30, according to Origo.
