Sustainable Solution: Returnable Mineral Water Bottles Coming Soon in Hungary
Oonly Tisztán Víz plans to produce returnable mineral water bottles at its factory in Pannonhalma near Győr with a Ft 1.5 billion production line, the bottling company announced.

The refPET bottles to be produced at the plant from this month use 80% less plastic over their lifecycle than normal PET bottles and can be refilled 25 times after high-temperature cleaning.

"In Hungary, nearly 100% of household mineral water consumption uses single-use PET bottles,” said CEO István Polony.

Csongor Bajnóczki of sustainability consultancy Denkstatt observed that more than half of the 3.3 billion beverage packaging items used in Hungary each year are plastic bottles, so there is huge potential in refillable bottles that offer a sustainable solution.
