In a significant casting update, Laura Harrier (“BlacKkKlansman”, “Spider-Man: Homecoming”) joins Nicolas Cage and Bill Skarsgård in the sequel. Harrier’s role has yet to be revealed, but her involvement adds another layer of intrigue to this already compelling follow-up. Bill Skarsgård, known for his chilling portrayal of Pennywise in It, will play Anton, Yuri’s son, whose ambition surpasses even his father’s notorious legacy.
The plot sees Yuri Orlov discovering that Anton isn’t trying to right his father’s wrongs — he’s trying to outdo them. Selling not only weapons but also the “trigger pullers” to use them, Anton is building a mercenary army to engage in America’s Middle East conflicts. The rivalry between father and son is personal and professional, with the two even clashing over the same woman.
“Lords of War” is written and directed by Andrew Niccol (“Gattaca”, “The Truman Show”), with Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi returning as producers. Karim Debbagh has joined the project as the line producer, ensuring smooth operations across the film’s international locations.
Production is set to kick off in early 2025, with filming taking place in Hungary and Morocco. With Nicolas Cage reprising his iconic role and Laura Harrier’s addition to the star-studded cast, “Lords of War” is shaping up to be a worthy sequel to the original crime.
