The H5N1 avian influenza subtype has been identified at goose farms in Csongrád-Csanád and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok counties, food safety authority Nebih said.

Protection and surveillance zones have been established around the farms in Bordany and Toszeg and some 5,850 geese are being destroyed.

Culling completed at farms hit by FMD

All of the cattle at farms in Darnozseli and Dunakiliti (NW Hungary) have been destroyed after outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease, food safety authority Nebih said.

Decontamination at the farms, where 3,588 head were culled, is underway, Nebih said.

No new outbreaks of FMD have been detected following tests at over 1,200 farms, it added.
