Venezuelan Embassy to Join ‘Night of the Museums’ in Budapest on 21 June
The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is joining Hungary’s nationwide Night of the Museums for the very first time – and not just in any way.

Their full-day, free-to-attend event welcomes visitors with a unique cultural experience, where contemporary visual art, traditional Venezuelan music, hands-on creative workshops, and authentic flavors come together – much to the delight of both children and adults.

At the heart of the event is Zeus Salas, a Venezuelan painter whose works will be on display in a special pop-up exhibition inside the Embassy.

This time, Salas’s vivid imagery will come to life not only on canvas, but also as LEGO-mosaics through a community building session with the Nyíregyháza-based tekerd! group, open to all. And since music has always been the heartbeat of Venezuelan life, the day will also feature live concerts and flavorful culinary delights.

This is a true celebration of culture – with the spirit of Venezuela brought to Budapest.

Detailed program:

10:00–18:00 – Zeus Salas Pop-Up Exhibition

Visitors can discover the artistic world of Caracas-born, Budapest-based painter and performer Zeus Salas through a special pop-up exhibition hosted within the walls of the Embassy. His works are deeply inspired by his rich cultural heritage and profound inner exploration, blending Latin American traditions with spiritual themes and personal narratives.

10:00–18:00 – LEGO Art Workshop: Build Zeus's Boxing Rooster!

A long-held dream came true for Zeus Salas in 2023, when he met the young creators from tekerd!, a Nyíregyháza-based group developing art projects with support from LEGO. Together, they began recreating his paintings as LEGO mosaics.

His 10-piece rooster series is being built as part of a larger community art initiative, and the next chapter of this project takes place during the Night of the Museums at the Venezuelan Embassy. Everyone is welcome – children and adults alike – to join in and help build!

15:00 – Guided Tour by Zeus Salas at his pop-up exhibition

During a personal tour of his pop-up exhibition, Zeus Salas will introduce visitors to his unique painterly style, shaped by his Latin American roots and spiritual journey. A special highlight is his 10-piece rooster series, inspired by his grandfather, a rooster trainer, and designed as a tribute to human virtues. Each rooster represents a symbolic quality, inviting viewers to look inward and reflect on the idea that our greatest battles are often fought within ourselves.

All Day Activities – Venezuelan Flavors and Sounds

For one day only, the Embassy courtyard will transform into a vibrant Latin American cultural center, featuring authentic Venezuelan food and drinks that are not just delicious, but also a key part of the national identity.

Visitors can taste arepás (cornmeal pockets filled with various ingredients), tequeños (crispy cheese sticks), and sip on traditional beverages, all served in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

The culinary journey will be accompanied by live Venezuelan music, creating a truly immersive cultural experience.
