Number of Court Cases Up in Hungary
Hungarian courts handled 1.2 million cases last year, 20,000 more than in 2023, Katalin Ocsko, the deputy head of the National Office of the Judiciary (OBH) said.

The Budapest Court of Appeals handled 57 percent of the country’s appeals cases last year, Ocsko said, presenting the court’s report on its operations in 2024.

At the national level, appeals courts handled 13,617 cases, up 5.9 percent from 2023, she said. The Budapest court handled 7,696 of these, 5.2 percent more than in the previous year.

Meanwhile, she said the Budapest Court of Appeals had four courtrooms equipped for conducting remote hearings.
