International Music Gigs Boost Amount of Travellers to Budapest

Around 175,000 guests stayed at tourism accommodations in Budapest during the week, 10pc more than in the preceding week, figures from the National Tourism Data Service Centre (NTAK) show.
The number of guest nights increased 8pc to 347,000.
Foreign visitors, most from the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, Poland and Spain, accounted for 86pc of the total.
Visitor numbers were up one-third on July 15, the day Guns N' Roses played for fans.
The number of Hungarians who booked rooms in Budapest when Jennifer Lopez performed on Sunday climbed 20pc from the same day a week earlier.
Hungary visitor numbers climb over 10m
The number of tourists in Hungary exceeded 10m on July 23, about a week earlier than last year, Visit Hungary told MTI, citing figures from the National Tourism Data Service Centre (NTAK).
Around half the visitors came from abroad. The number of foreign travellers, mainly from Germany, Romania, the UK, Poland and Italy, increased 11pc from a year earlier, the tourism marketing organisation added.
Budapest attracted 39pc of the visitors, whose numbers rose 14pc from a year earlier. The number of foreign tourists visiting the capital increased 15pc.
Outside of Budapest, Gyor, Szeged, spa towns Heviz and Sarvar, and Siofok on the shore of Lake Balaton were the most popular destinations among foreigners.
Lake Balaton, especially Siofok and Heviz, attracted the most domestic tourists, followed by the Matra and Bukk hills, the area surrounding the capital, Debrecen, Tokaj, Nyiregyhaza and their surroundings.
The most popular spa towns were Hajduszoboszlu, Zalakaros and Heviz.
