Up Again: Why E-Health System in Hungary Unexpectedly Shutdown
The website of Hungary’s health service EESZT became inaccessible on Friday morning due to a technical problem, but was restored early on Sunday.

The outage also disrupted the magyarorszag.hu portal and related state services, halting online administration and forcing family doctors and on-call clinics to issue paper prescriptions.

Like similar incidents in May and July, the failure was caused by a hardware malfunction in the electronic administration system, said state secretary for health Péter Takács.

The website is fully operational again, he announced on Facebook yesterday, saying the fault was identified with the help of the manufacturer and there were “no obstacles” to issuing e-prescriptions.
