Watch: Inside the House of Houdini in Budapest
The House of Houdini in Budapest is a unique museum dedicated to Harry Houdini, the world-famous illusionist and escape artist. Houdini, born Erik Weisz in Budapest in 1874, migrated to the United States when he was just a child. Despite his worldwide fame, he always acknowledged his Hungarian origins.

The House of Houdini is worth a visit as the museum hosts a collection of original Houdini memorabilia, including handcuffs, personal letters, and artifacts. It also displays Houdini’s only known surviving stage-prop (a bust used in his metamorphosis trick), as well as the world's largest collection of original Houdini posters.

More reasons to visit include the live performances held there, allowing visitors to experience the thrill of illusion and sleight of hand up close. Engaging for all ages, magic has universal appeal, and the combination of historical exhibits and live performances makes the House of Houdini an enjoyable visit for both children and adults.

Located in the Castle District, a visit to the House of Houdini can easily be combined with a stroll around this charming area and a visit to other nearby attractions, such as the Fisherman’s Bastion and Matthias Church.
