Balaton Winter Activities: Huge Ice Rink Network & Family Fun Attractions
- 11 Nov 2025 7:04 AM
A thousand pairs of skates will be available for rent, and helmets will also be provided free of charge to encourage safe skating. The site will include a heated resting tent and toilets accessible to all ticket holders.
Construction of the rink is set to begin in November, with the opening planned for December 12, running through January 31.
At the announcement event, Mayor István Bóka highlighted the town’s ongoing goal of ensuring that as much of the lakeshore as possible remains accessible to the public throughout the year. He noted that in recent years several previously closed waterfront areas have been opened, and that Balatonfüred now has very little private shoreline use, apart from one remaining individual plot.
Much of the waterfront is now used in ways that invite the public: hotel properties hosting visitors, beaches which are open as promenades outside the summer season, and community-access shoreline areas.
Examples include the 20-hectare campsite with a public pier, the national sailing port where a hotel with an accessible waterfront is currently under development, and the Aranyhíd and Brázay beach zones, both under municipal ownership or long-term public use.
The message: Balatonfüred intends its lakeside to be a shared space — even in winter.
