Hungary Attracts Most Chinese FDI in Past Two Years
Hungary was the destination for the most Chinese foreign investment in the past two years, which has benefitted Hungary greatly, so the government will continue to work for unhindered global economic cooperation, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó said in Brussels on Monday, before a meeting of EU trade ministers.

The minister was speaking after consulting with China's trade minister by phone, his ministry said in a statement.

"Hungary attracted 31pc of Chinese investments arriving to Europe last year and 44pc in the previous year. These created tens of thousands of jobs and raised the technological level of the Hungarian economy," Szijjártó said.

Szijjarto said that the splitting of the world into blocs was contrary to Hungary's interests.

"We are interested in ensuring that global economic and trade cooperation is uninterrupted. In the case of a country like ours, where exports account for between 75-80pc of GDP, this is a fundamental interest," he said.

"So today we will continue to strive to ensure that the European Union cannot erect artificial obstacles to normal economic and trade cooperation," Szijjártó said.
