Xpat Interview: Dilyara Teshebayeva
Born in Kazakhstan, have a BA in Economics, MA in International Relations. Currently working for Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.



Know Russian, Kazakh, learning French and Hungarian.
Love to travel, work out and make bath products.


1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
I came to Budapest in September 2007 as I got a scholarship to study at the Central European University.

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
Yes, I have lived in New York

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
That very few people speak English which I turned into advantage and have been learning Magyar :)

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
To see: Statue of liberty, Fisherman's Bastion, Andrássy street, Opera house
To do: visit Széchenyi baths, eat at Liszt Ferenc tér, go to a night club on Margit island

5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
Túró rudi

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Carrots :)

7. What is your favourite Hungarian word?
Fürdőgolyó

8. What do you miss the most from home?
My family

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
Nutrition specialist

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Teacher in elementary school

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
Hebalm, Austria

12. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
Berlin

13. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
Backstreet boys

14. What can't you resist?
Can not resist to pass by a beauty shop, have to stop by :)

Malnutrition

Aim for the moon and if you miss you will still shine among the stars.
