Hungary’s government is committed to freedom of expression and consistently fights hate speech, László Trócsányi, the justice minister, told a Hungarian-Israeli conference in Budapest. Anti-Semitism and any form or racism or prejudice is a “slow-killing poison”, Trócsányi said.

Government office chief János Lázár rejected a claim made by German daily Bild that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had deliberately misled the Austrian and German chancellors about Hungary’s migrant situation last year. The paper said Germany had expected to receive a few thousand migrants last September compared with the 20,000 that ended up on its border.
