A demonstration was organised by the opposition Együtt (Together) party demanding that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán reveal the sources of his wealth. At the demonstration, held ahead of an auction for state land in Székesfehérvár (W Hungary), Együtt’s deputy leader demanded answers to questions regarding assets associated with Orbán and his family members.

Hungarian laws are very strict in preventing that foreigners should buy Hungarian farmland, government spokesman Zoltán Kovács said. Farmland auctions will continue in February, according to a Thursday announcement by government office chief János Lázár. He said only about a dozen foreigners could buy land under the scheme.
Land Management Fund Signs Cooperation Agreement With Banks

The National Land Management Fund (NFA) said it signed a cooperation agreement with eight commercial banks on providing preferential loans for farmland purchases to farmers who bought lands at auctions. Raiffeisen Bank, Unicredit Bank Hungary, Erste Bank Hungary, FHB Kereskedelmi Bank, Oberbank AG, Granit Bank, Budapest Bank and Magyar Takarékszövetkezeti Bank signed an agreement with NFA.
